Gommecourt's all-goods fair: a village tradition

Nestled in the western reaches of the Yvelines, on the border with the Eure department, Gommecourt is a very small rural town of about 470 inhabitants along the Seine. Despite its modest size, the village is proud of its annual fair, organized every late September by the local festival committee. The event takes place on Place de Gaulle, in the heart of the village, and gathers around 110 exhibitors for a day of outdoor bargain hunting.

A human-scale event

With around a hundred exhibitors, the Gommecourt fair remains a human-scale event, far from the bustle of major urban flea markets. That's exactly its charm: visitors take their time to chat with exhibitors, wander from stall to stall, and enjoy the easygoing atmosphere of a village Sunday.

Gommecourt, a discreet Seine-side village

Gommecourt is one of those small rural communes at the western edges of the Paris region, where Yvelines meets Eure and Val-d'Oise. Crossed by the river, the village offers a peaceful setting dominated by its church, old houses, and the agricultural landscapes of the nearby Vexin.

An end-of-summer event not to miss

Held in late September, the Gommecourt fair traditionally closes the summer flea market season in this area of the Yvelines. It attracts a mixed audience.

Access and tips

Gommecourt is reachable by car from Mantes-la-Jolie or Vernon, via the riverside road. Parking is available around the village and Place de Gaulle. Arriving in the morning lets you enjoy the whole fair before the best exhibitors pack up in late afternoon.
