At 3 Place Saint-Éloi in Gimont (32200), Hugues Liagre has transformed a former village billiard cafe into a showroom of antiques and flea market finds with authentic charm. The Galerie Brocante offers a carefully selected assortment of furniture and objects, in a setting where the spirit of the old cafe blends with the world of flea markets.
The Galerie Brocante's selection covers a wide spectrum: vintage and designer furniture, urban and industrial furniture, wardrobes, sideboards, and tables from the 19th and 20th centuries, period lighting, curiosities, and statues. The collectibles section is equally rich: antique books, vinyl records, old papers, militaria items, advertising enamel signs, and pieces signed by celebrities. Each object is chosen for its character, authenticity, or history.
Gimont is a 13th-century bastide founded by the monks of the Planselve abbey, famous throughout the Southwest for its winter foie gras market and its 15th-century half-timbered market hall. The town, crossed by the Gimone river, retains remarkable medieval heritage: Gothic church, prison tower, half-timbered houses, and arcaded square. The Galerie Brocante is part of this age-old trading tradition that has made Gimont a place of exchange and trade since the Middle Ages.
The Galerie Brocante is open on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and by appointment at 06 09 82 85 97 on other days. Items are also for sale on the website galeriebrocante.com, with storage and delivery services under certain conditions.
