The fine antiques fair every third Sunday on Place de la Libération
Gaillac's fine monthly antiques market is one of the most appreciated events for antique dealers and bargain-hunters of Occitanie. Organised by the Town of Gaillac in partnership with sector professionals, it takes place every third Sunday of the month on Place de la Libération, in the heart of Gaillac's historic centre. This monthly regularity makes it a faithful appointment: regulars know they will find their favourite dealers, while newcomers discover the art of professional bargain-hunting.
The event brings together around 20 professional dealers, all selected for the quality of their stock. Unlike a general flea market, the monthly antiques market offers only true brocante and antiques: antique furniture (armoires, sideboards, Louis-Philippe chests, bergère armchairs), fine lighting, paintings and engravings, silverware, glassware, ceramics, porcelain, antique jewellery, clocks, postcards, books and fine papers. Prices reflect the quality but professionals generally accept polite negotiation.
Gaillac (14,000 inhabitants) is a town of art and history, capital of one of France's oldest vineyards (2,000 years). Place de la Libération, the town's nerve centre, also hosts the weekly market. Around the square are the Saint-Michel abbey church (13th century), the old Gaillac lanes, and the Maison des Vins. Combining the monthly antiques market with a tasting at a Gaillac winemaker is an ideal Tarn Sunday.
Insiders arrive by 8am, as sellers set up, to spot exceptional pieces. Connoisseurs take their time, starting with a café terrace coffee before walking the square. By late morning, as sun floods the stalls, the atmosphere becomes particularly pleasant. The neighbouring food market allows putting together a Sunday picnic to savour on the way to visiting surrounding vineyards.
The Gaillac monthly antiques market renews its 3rd-Sunday rendezvous in 2026. The planned calendar includes: 18 January, 15 February, 15 March, 19 April, 17 May, 21 June, 19 July, 16 August, 20 September, 18 October, 15 November and 20 December. Each edition gathers around twenty professional dealers on Place de la Libération, 8am to 5pm.
The first 2026 editions (January-April) already took place in the usual conditions. The May edition on Sunday 17th will mark the start of the fine season.
The event remains unmissable in the Tarn antique calendar.
