The annual bargain hunters' gathering in the heart of Mellois country
Each September, the Foyer Civil of Limalonges organises its annual boot sale, an event that has become a fixture in the village's community calendar. Run by dedicated volunteers, this gathering attracts bargain hunters and families from the surrounding area, eager to browse stalls for great finds. The atmosphere is warm and convivial, reflecting the spirit of this charming Mellois village.
Limalonges, a commune of just a few hundred inhabitants located about twenty kilometres south of Melle, provides an unspoilt rural setting. The boot sale takes place through the village streets, amid stone houses and colourful gardens. You will find everything from crockery and clothing to toys, books, ornaments, garden tools and occasional furniture, all sold by private individuals in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Foyer Civil of Limalonges, a cornerstone association in local life, uses proceeds from the boot sale to fund its year-round activities: communal meals, children's events and cultural outings. Attending this boot sale also means supporting the community spirit of a rural village that proudly cultivates solidarity and togetherness.
Exhibitors are welcomed from 7am, and entry is free for visitors. Refreshments and light meals are usually available on-site. The village is accessible via the D948 between Melle and Lezay, with free parking around the village centre.
