Traditional flea market on May 1st organized by ES Pleyber-Christ
Every May 1st, ES Pleyber-Christ (football club) organizes its traditional flea market in the village of Pleyber-Christ. This Labour Day event brings together exhibitors and visitors for a friendly day of treasure hunting in the Breton Léon. Admission €1.50 (free for under 12s), food available on site.
May 1st is, in France, a public holiday marked by union parades and the sale of lily of the valley. But in many Breton villages, it is also an opportunity to organize flea markets and popular fairs, which take advantage of the day off to gather a large crowd. Pleyber-Christ is no exception: every May 1st, ES Pleyber-Christ – the local football club – takes over the village to hold a well-established flea market in the local calendar.
Pleyber-Christ, located in the Léon region about twenty kilometers from Morlaix, is a lively village whose sports associations form the backbone of community life. ES Pleyber-Christ, founded in 1941, is one of the oldest and most active clubs in the commune. Its annual organization of a flea market on May 1st is a concrete way to liven up the village and generate resources for local football.
The May 1st flea market welcomes private and professional exhibitors offering all sorts of second-hand items: clothes, shoes, books, toys, crockery, tools, appliances, and various bric-a-brac. The atmosphere is that of a village flea market, relaxed and friendly, where people take the time to chat with exhibitors, negotiate, and find unexpected bargains.
Visitors pay €1.50 for admission, free for children under 12. Light refreshments are provided on site by club volunteers. The market is held during the day, allowing families to combine this outing with other activities during the extended May 1st weekend.
Remarkably, Pleyber-Christ hosts two distinct annual flea markets: one by PSM Handball at the end of March and the one by ES Pleyber-Christ on May 1st. This double presence testifies to the associative vitality of the village and the attachment of the inhabitants to these popular events. Treasure hunters in the region can thus mark Pleyber-Christ twice on their calendar, with the assurance of always finding a friendly atmosphere and varied stalls in this village in the Breton Léon.
On May 1st, 2026, ES Pleyber-Christ is organizing its traditional flea market in the village again. A popular and friendly day of treasure hunting, with private and professional exhibitors. Admission €1.50, free for under 12s, food available on site.
