Annual 'Foire à tout' in the heart of the village of Broué
The Foire à tout de Broué is held every year in June in this small village in Eure-et-Loir (28410), built on a sandy rise overlooking the Beauce plain. Organized by local volunteers, this friendly event brings together individuals and bargain hunters around various stalls: clothing, furniture, tableware, books, and decorative objects. The event is part of the tradition of rural fairs in the Pays Houdanais.
Every June, the village of Broué (28410) comes alive for its annual 'foire à tout'. Nestled in the canton of Bû, this commune in Eure-et-Loir is built on a sandy hill about three kilometers in circumference, offering a remarkable panorama of the surrounding Beauce plain. It is in this authentic village setting that this eagerly awaited event for bargain hunters and families from the Pays Houdanais takes place each year.
Broué is not just a flea market location: it is a village steeped in history. Archaeological excavations have uncovered the remains of a Gallo-Roman villa with marble mosaics, vases, coins, and various antique objects. The parish church, consecrated in June 1510 by Érard de la Marck, Bishop of Chartres, bears witness to the long religious life of the town. The hamlet of Marolles, for its part, preserves an old seigneurial house of the Celestins dating from the 17th century.
The Foire à tout de Broué hosts both private exhibitors and professionals. You can find clothing of all sizes, antique or modern furniture, tableware, books, toys, tools, and a multitude of trinkets and decorative objects. The relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere is one of the major assets of this event, which remains human-sized and encourages exchanges between neighbors and passing visitors.
Broué is part of the Communauté de communes du Pays Houdanais. The village is a reasonable distance from Dreux to the north and Chartres to the south, making it an easily accessible stop for flea market enthusiasts in the area. The roads lined with wheat and rapeseed fields are themselves a seasonal spectacle in June, when Beauce shines in all its greenery.
Like all rural 'foires à tout' in Eure-et-Loir, the one in Broué is above all a village festival. Volunteers work from dawn to set up tents and guide exhibitors. Food and drinks are usually available on site, allowing visitors to refresh themselves while continuing their stroll among the stalls. It is the ideal opportunity to meet neighbors, find good deals, and participate in local community life.
