Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc, famous for its medieval keep and its legendary name, hosts a flea market every summer on Boulevard Chapou, entirely dedicated to professional exhibitors. With about fifty second-hand dealers and antique dealers gathered outdoors, this event offers a quality selection rarely matched in the Quercy Blanc region.
Unlike car boot sales open to individuals, the Foire à la Brocante de Montcuq is strictly reserved for professionals in the trade: licensed second-hand dealers, antique dealers, dealers of curiosities and furniture. This selection guarantees visitors a coherent and high-quality offering: antique furniture of all periods, earthenware and ceramics, paintings, bronzes, collectible items, old books, and distinctive curiosities. Regulars know they can find rare pieces here that are not found at ordinary car boot sales.
Boulevard Chapou is one of the main thoroughfares of Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc. Lined with century-old plane trees, it gives the market an elegant appearance, shaded by foliage and enjoying the relative coolness of a summer day. The stalls are arranged in a line, allowing for pleasant strolling between the professionals' stands. The proximity to the village's historic center encourages visitors to extend their visit into the medieval streets and enjoy the local shops and restaurants.
The Foire à la Brocante de Montcuq is supported by the Quercy Blanc Tourist Office, which is responsible for its organization and promotion. To register as a professional exhibitor, second-hand dealers can contact Didier Gallinato or Susan Serres at the tourist office. The event is part of the territory's summer tourist animation policy, which aims to attract visitors and flea market enthusiasts to this area of the Lot.
Montcuq is a medieval village whose 12th-century keep is its essential symbol. Perched on a hill overlooking the Quercy Blanc hills, the cylindrical watchtower is visible for miles around. The village retains its partial ramparts, its white limestone streets, and its arcaded houses typical of Quercy architecture. Combining a visit to the flea market with a discovery of Montcuq's heritage is a combination that tourists particularly appreciate.
