Every last Sunday of July, the small village of Saint-Hilaire-la-Palud, nestled in the heart of the Marais Poitevin, hosts an outdoor flea market in the exceptional setting of the 24-hour boat race. This endurance race in traditional boats is one of the most iconic events of the wet marsh, attracting thousands of spectators and participants each year to celebrate the culture and heritage of the Green Venice.

A Flea Market in an Exceptional Natural Setting

The flea market spreads across the 24-hour grounds, located on chemin du Grand Port, about 500 meters past the bridge. Exhibitors, exclusively private individuals, can set up from 7 AM without prior reservation, with the option of parking their vehicle next to their stand. In this lush green setting, between canals and wet meadows, bargain hunting takes on a very special flavor, far from urban hustle.

A Weekend of Waterside Celebration

The 24-hour boat race is more than just a race. The weekend offers a rich program of entertainment: the parade of UFOs (Unidentified Floating Objects), whimsical boats built from recycled materials, is one of the highlights. Water games, aperitif-concerts, and on-site food complete a festive family day by the water.
