Payroux Spring Festival

A Civraisien village tradition

Payroux is a small rural commune of a few hundred inhabitants in southern Vienne, in Civraisien en Poitou, near the Charente and Deux-Sèvres borders. Every 1 May, the festival committee organises a Spring Festival combining flea market, jumble sale, fairground and music. The 2026 edition takes place on Friday 1 May in the village streets and square.

A low-priced flea market

At €1 per metre, Payroux is one of the most affordable events in the department. Typical southern-Vienne village policy that lets locals clear their attics without hassle.

What gives Payroux its character are the surrounding activities: fairground rides, music, kids' games, food and drinks served all day by the festival committee. You come to Payroux as much to chine as for an old-fashioned family day out.

Civraisien, a chiner's land

Southern Vienne has low density but a lively community fabric. Between Civray, Charroux (Most Beautiful Village in France), Availles-Limouzine and Usson-du-Poitou, spring and summer flea markets punctuate the local calendar.
