Car boot sale as part of the Scarecrow Festival in Crépol, northern Drôme
Every spring, Crépol transforms into a village inhabited by scarecrows! The Scarecrow Festival is an original event that combines an exhibition of artistic creations on the theme of the scarecrow and a popular car boot sale. This festive and quirky event attracts a large family audience to this village in northern Drôme every year.
The highlight of the event is, of course, the scarecrow exhibition. Villagers and those from surrounding areas compete in imagination to create the most original, funniest, or most impressive figures. Scarecrows invade the streets, gardens, and squares of the village, transforming Crépol into an open-air popular art gallery. A competition rewards the most remarkable creations, stimulating the creativity and participation of the inhabitants.
Alongside the scarecrows, the car boot sale takes place in the village streets, offering visitors the chance to hunt for second-hand items from local exhibitors. The combination of the two events creates a dense and varied day, where popular art and the circular economy meet in a celebration of village life.
Crépol is a commune in northern Drôme, in the Drôme des Collines region. This rural village, located between the wooded hills on the left bank of the Rhône and the agricultural plateaus of La Valloire, perpetuates a way of life and traditions that give the Drôme countryside its charm. The Scarecrow Festival is part of this rural tradition of inventive and friendly village festivals.
