Organized at the end of July, the Hauterives flea market benefits from the summer setting of the Drôme des Collines: generous light, green hills, a southern atmosphere without excessive heat. Visitors coming for the Palais idéal can easily combine their visit with a morning or afternoon of treasure hunting in the village, making the day a complete and popular cultural experience.

The Palais idéal du Facteur Cheval, Neighbor to the Flea Market

It would be a shame to come to Hauterives for the flea market without taking the time to visit the Palais idéal. This construction, 26 meters long and 14 meters high, built by one man from pebbles collected on his rounds, is one of the most remarkable works of raw art in the world. It has inspired artists as diverse as André Breton, Pablo Picasso, and the band Supertramp. The flea market and the Palace form an ideal visiting combination.
