Every July, the Chapelle Sainte-Lucie, at 79 cours Napoléon in Ajaccio, hosts an original and solidarity event: the Book Fair and Street Sale organized by the Entraide Protestante de Corse. From Monday, July 14 to Saturday, July 19 (depending on the 2025 edition), from 4 PM to 8 PM, this street sale offers used books, clothing, and items at very accessible prices.
Used books are the main attraction of the event: novels, essays, children's books, art books, travel guides — all offered starting from just €0.50. A symbolic price that allows everyone to leave with new reading material without breaking the bank. Clothing and items in good condition complete the offer at equally accessible prices. The proceeds allow Entraide Protestante to fund its charitable actions for people in difficulty in Corsica.
The Chapelle Sainte-Lucie is the place of worship and activity for the Protestant community of Ajaccio. Nestled at 79 cours Napoléon, the main and liveliest street in Ajaccio, this discreet chapel is a multifunctional space that hosts services, concerts, conferences, Christmas markets, exhibitions during Heritage Days, and cultural events throughout the year.
The book fair is one of the chapel's most popular summer events, bringing together an eclectic audience: bibliophiles looking for rare titles, tourists seeking holiday reading, and local residents accustomed to the solidarity approach. The late afternoon schedule (4 PM-8 PM) allows the fair to be combined with a stroll along the cours Napoléon, one of Corsica's most beautiful pedestrian streets.
The Entraide Protestante de Corse is the charitable association of the Reformed Church of Ajaccio, committed to helping people in social difficulty on the island. Its actions cover food aid, support for vulnerable individuals, and assistance for various solidarity initiatives. The book fair and street sale is one of its main summer fundraising events, allowing both to finance these actions and to raise public awareness of the cause.
For more information on the book fair or to offer donations of books and items, contact 06 11 51 48 42.
