Toy fair, designers, Christmas tree sale and Santa Claus in Milhars
Tucked in the Causses and Aveyron gorges, the medieval village of Milhars puts on its Christmas colours for its toy fair combined with a special end-of-year flea market. Village hall, designer stalls, Christmas tree sale, Santa visiting at 3 PM and Christmas finds to hunt: a warm family event to get ready for the holidays without breaking the bank.
Perched on a cliff above the Aveyron valley, Milhars is one of those Tarn villages facing north-west, on the edge of the Causses and Aveyron gorges. A few kilometres from Cordes-sur-Ciel and Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, the commune keeps a rich heritage: castle, Gothic church, narrow alleys and spectacular landscapes. In this timeless setting, the toy fair and Christmas flea market are held every year as the holidays approach.
A simple, effective idea: offer families a chance to sell or hunt for second-hand toys in a warm, solidarity-driven atmosphere. Early learning toys, plushies, board games, figurines, video games, Playmobil, Lego, children's books, bikes and scooters: stalls, mostly run by private sellers, let parents buy gifts at gentle prices and give neglected items a second life.
Alongside the toy fair, a Christmas flea market lets residents sell other items: crockery, books, decorations, small furniture, baby gear. Designer stalls offer jewellery, textiles, ceramics, soaps and local treats, perfect for unusual gifts. A fresh Christmas tree sale rounds out the setting, and Santa himself greets the children at 3 PM for a moment of magic.
In this village of a few hundred souls, the event brings together generations and neighbouring villages. People come as a family, extend the morning with hot chocolate or mulled wine, and leave with a tree on the roof and gifts under the arm. A lovely way to open the festive season in the north-west of the Tarn.
The 2026 Milhars toy fair and Christmas flea market is planned around Sunday 13 December 2026 at the village hall. Second-hand toys, designer stalls, Christmas tree sale and Santa's visit at 3 PM for a family day in the heart of the Tarn. Date to be confirmed by the organisers.
