The great traditional fair of Roye after Easter
The Quasimodo Fair is one of the oldest festive and commercial gatherings in Roye, in the Santerre. Organized each year on the Sunday after Easter by the Town of Roye, it combines an individuals' flea market, a funfair, commercial sales and a plant fair. A full day of animation on Place Jacques Fleury and in the town centre, in the popular atmosphere typical of great Picardy fairs.
The Quasimodo Fair is an institution in Roye, a town in the south-east of the Somme, at the heart of the Santerre. Held each year on the Sunday following Easter (hence its name, drawn from Quasimodo Sunday in the liturgical calendar), this centuries-old fair combines several attractions in a single day: an individuals' flea market, a funfair, a town-centre retailers' sale and a plant fair. The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday 12 April, from 6am to 8pm, on Place Jacques Fleury and in the surrounding streets.
The flea market, reserved for non-professional individuals, takes over Place Jacques Fleury with around one hundred to two hundred exhibitors. The very modest stand price (1.20 euros per linear metre) makes it one of the most accessible flea markets in the region. You'll find the usual bric-à -brac of Picardy réderies: tableware, clothes, toys, books, small furniture, records and flea market items. The atmosphere is that of a great popular celebration, with a considerable turnout from 6am onwards.
Alongside the flea market, the Quasimodo Fair offers everything that makes the charm of traditional fairs: rides, fairground attractions, confectionery stalls, candy floss and churros set up in the town centre. Roye retailers also take part by displaying discounted items, turning the shopping streets into a great open-air bargain market. This old commercial dimension makes the Quasimodo Fair one of the town's economic highlights.
For several years, a plant fair has been added to traditional activities. Horticulturists, nurseries and amateurs offer vegetable seedlings, flowers, shrubs, aromatic plants and gardening advice, to the delight of garden lovers who take advantage of this ideal period for spring planting.
Roye, the historic sub-prefecture of the Santerre, is a town with rich heritage, at the crossroads between Amiens, Compiègne and Saint-Quentin. Ravaged during the First World War and then rebuilt in the 1920s, it retains a charming town centre with its Saint-Pierre church, its market halls and its traditional shops. Picardy gastronomy is showcased here, particularly around the famous 'canard à la royale'. The Quasimodo Fair is the ideal opportunity to discover this endearing town in a festive atmosphere.
The 2026 Quasimodo Fair took place on Sunday 12 April 2026 in Roye, Place Jacques Fleury. From 6am to 8pm, the event combined a flea market, funfair, retail sales and plant fair in a popular and festive atmosphere faithful to tradition.
On Sunday 12 April 2026, the great Quasimodo Fair once again enlivened Place Jacques Fleury and the centre of Roye. From dawn, around 150 individual exhibitors set up their stalls on the square, while fairground operators deployed their rides and attractions in the adjacent streets. Roye retailers brought out their discounted items for the occasion, while the plant fair offered a wide selection of seedlings and flowers to gardening enthusiasts.
The event attracted a large crowd from across the region, once again confirming the Quasimodo Fair's status as one of the essential festive gatherings of Picardy spring. Between bargain hunting, funfair attractions and gastronomy, the day was complete and delightful for families and treasure hunters.
