Annual car boot sale of the commune of Dry, in the heart of the Loire vineyards
Dry is an exceptional wine village, nestled between the slopes of the Loire and the Beauce plateau, about thirty kilometers west of Orléans. Renowned for its local wines from the Giennois and Val de Loire slopes, this village of rare authenticity organizes a popular car boot sale every early September that brings together locals and visitors in a warm village atmosphere.
The car boot sale takes place on the town hall square and the surrounding streets of the village of Dry, offering a picturesque setting between tuffeau houses and wine cellars. Private sellers offer their items from dawn, and visitors can wander freely between the stalls:
The territory of Dry extends from the banks of the Loire to the first cereal expanses of Beauce, offering a striking diversity of landscapes. The village is crossed by the Rimarde river and surrounded by carefully maintained vineyards. The Saint-Germain church, dating from the 12th century, dominates the village and testifies to the long history of this charming commune.
Dry's exceptional location in the Val de Loire invites visitors to combine their car boot sale getaway with a discovery of the region. The wine slopes, troglodyte cellars, and the banks of the Loire offer beautiful walks on foot or by bike before or after visiting the market. Local wine cellars sometimes offer tastings during this festive day.
The car boot sale is held on Rue de la Verronnerie and on the town hall square of Dry (45370), in early September. Opens at 7:30 am, closes at 5:30 pm. Free entry. Contact and registration: Dry town hall, 02 38 45 71 07. Parking in the village streets.
