Autumn gathering of bargain hunters in the historic and listed Cité-Jardins neighbourhood of Suresnes, Place de la Paix
Every autumn, the Cité-Jardins neighbourhood of Suresnes (92150) hosts its open-air jumble sale at Place de la Paix. This unique event takes place in one of the most remarkable social housing developments in Île-de-France, listed as a historic monument. In 2026, 140 stalls are planned on Sunday 12 October, from 9am to 6pm. Seller registrations take place in September at the Caron market and on Place de la Paix.
Every autumn, Place de la Paix in the Cité-Jardins neighbourhood transforms into an open-air treasure hunt. The Cité-Jardins jumble sale, organised by the City of Suresnes (92150), brings together around 140 private sellers offering forgotten objects, clothes, books, toys and various curiosities. In 2026, the event takes place on Sunday 12 October, from 9am to 6pm, with 140 outdoor stalls.
The jumble sale unfolds in one of the most exceptional architectural and urban heritage sites in Île-de-France: the Cité-Jardins de Suresnes. Built between 1919 and 1939 under mayor Henri Sellier and architect Joseph Bassompierre, this model workers' estate was inspired by the British garden city movement promoted by Ebenezer Howard. Tree-lined streets, individual homes with tended gardens, and collective facilities (schools, swimming pool, theatre) conceived as a harmonious whole — the Cité-Jardins is today a precious testimony to the social urbanism of the early twentieth century, and is largely protected as a listed historic monument.
This heritage setting lends the jumble sale a very special charm. Strolling between stalls beneath the autumn foliage, in quiet lanes with flower-adorned facades, offers a unique experience that no shopping centre or car park market can match.
The event brings together around 140 private sellers, residents of the neighbourhood or of Suresnes, who empty their attics for the occasion. Stalls feature a medley of clothes of all sizes, furniture, books and comics, vinyl records, toys and board games, tableware, ornaments and decorative objects, and many unusual pieces that only a neighbourhood jumble sale can uncover. No professionals are allowed — all the magic comes from private individuals and the authenticity of their finds.
The Cité-Jardins is accessible by tramway T2 (Suresnes-Longchamp or Mont Valérien stops) and by RATP bus lines serving Suresnes from La Défense and surrounding communes. Entry is free for all visitors.
