The Grape Harvest Jumble Sale: Rueil-Malmaison's wine tradition meets second-hand browsing

Rueil-Malmaison (92500) has a deep wine-growing history, often unknown to outsiders. The Malmaison estate, Empress Josephine's residence, was surrounded by vineyards, and the Vieux Buzenval neighbourhood on the southern slopes still bears traces of this viticultural tradition.

Each October, the Association Républicaine du Vieux Buzenval organises events around the Fête des Vendanges — one of the most charming autumn festivals in inner Paris suburbs, celebrating a remaining vineyard and symbolic local wine production. The jumble sale, held at the historic Cercle Henri Regnault and Place du Marché, is a highlight of this festival week.

The Cercle Henri Regnault

Named after painter Henri Regnault (1843-1871), who died at the Battle of Buzenval during the Franco-Prussian War siege of Paris, the Cercle perpetuates the memory of this historic event.
