Private sale in the medieval city
Chauvigny is one of the most spectacular medieval cities in the Vienne, 25 km east of Poitiers. Perched on a rocky spur above the Vienne valley, it uniquely has five superposed stone fortresses on one site — a UNESCO-listed ensemble unique in France. On 1-2 May 2026, a private resident runs a clearance, pairing nicely with an exceptional heritage visit.
Chauvigny has around 7,500 inhabitants and holds the City of Art and History label. Besides its five castles (Gouzon keep, Bishops' castle, Harcourt, Montléon, Châtel tower):
Chauvigny is one of the Vienne's top tourist sites. A simple clearance takes another dimension here — a full day in the city, thrifting in the morning and heritage in the afternoon. Visitors coming just for the clearance often discover the site with delight. 1 and 2 May being public holidays / long-weekend days, ideal for a mini-break.
Clearance in the morning, then upper town via cobbled alleys. Lunch in an old-town restaurant (Poitou specialties, terroir). Afternoon for five fortresses and Saint-Pierre. If in season, don't miss Les Géants du Ciel, a breathtaking medieval falconry show. Allow 2-3h for the upper town and fortifications. Exact clearance address on Brocabrac.fr.
