Sports and community medal holders' charity flea market
The Youth, Sports and Community Engagement Medal is a French honour for people dedicated to sport, education or community work. The medal holders' circle gathers these volunteers locally: coaches, club leaders, sports educators, youth animators. Châtellerault's circle runs its annual flea market (Sunday 14 June 2026) to fund local initiatives.
Illustrates the French self-sustaining charity tradition: charities run events whose proceeds feed other charities, creating a solidarity ecosystem. Not just a second-hand market: a statement in favour of sport and youth.
Vienne's second city (31,000). Dense sports fabric with historic clubs in football, rugby, basketball, swimming, judo, athletics, gymnastics. SO Châtellerault Football is a known developmental club. Many active medal holders.
Unique industrial-military heritage: Arms Manufactory (closed, redeveloped), Henri IV Bridge (1611), Auto-Moto-Vélo museum. Gateway to Grand Châtellerault (Naintré, Dissay, Availles, Vouneuil).
Futuroscope 15 min south. Poitiers 30 min. Saint-Savin abbey 40 min east.
Bring cash — prices often very gentle (1-5 €). Sports gear is a big draw: rackets, cleats, kids' bikes, kit in good condition. Feel free to give more than the asking price — direct support to local clubs.
Sunday 14 June 2026, all day.
