Jumble sale in this village in the Pays des Pierres Dorées, between Anse and L'Arbresle in northern Beaujolais
Every year, the Chamelet School Association organizes its annual jumble sale, one of the most eagerly awaited events in this village in the Pays des Pierres Dorées. On Sunday, May 10th, private sellers from the village and surrounding communes set up to offer clothes, toys, books, trinkets and various objects at very accessible prices. The event is a much-appreciated moment of friendliness and sharing for Chamelet families and visitors from neighbouring communes. Funds raised go to the village school to finance educational outings and cultural projects for the pupils.
Chamelet is a village of around 700 inhabitants in the Pays des Pierres Dorées, in the north of the Rhône department, halfway between Anse and L'Arbresle. Like its neighbours, the village is characterized by its golden-hued limestone buildings, which give the whole region its warm, luminous tones so characteristic of the area. Chamelet is surrounded by vineyards and fruit trees, in a landscape open to the Beaujolais hills. The Pierres Dorées region, with several of its communes labelled « Plus Beaux Villages de France », is a charming tourist destination much appreciated by Lyonnais and visitors seeking authenticity and rural heritage.
Chamelet is located between Anse and L'Arbresle along the D485, about 35 km northwest of Lyon. Village parking available.
