Annual flea market of the Cendre en fête weekend in Bois-le-Roi, at the edge of the Fontainebleau forest
Every year, the Cendre district in Bois-le-Roi transforms for the Cendre en fête, a festive weekend organized by Bois-le-Roi Animations. At the heart of this event, a large flea market that brings together village residents and bargain hunters from surrounding communes for a day dedicated to good deals, reunions and local entertainment.
Bois-le-Roi is an emblematic commune in southern Seine-et-Marne, on the banks of the Seine and right on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest. Its origins go far back in regional history, and its very name reflects its ancient connection to French royalty, who came to hunt in the surrounding woods. Today, Bois-le-Roi is a residential commune prized for its exceptional setting.
The Cendre is one of the historic districts of Bois-le-Roi, with its narrow streets, traditional houses and village atmosphere. This intimate configuration is precisely what gives the flea market its charm: stalls are set up in the streets of the district, creating a real open-air commercial walk. Visitors stroll quietly, meet residents who have set out their goods in front of their homes.
The previous edition was held on Sunday September 14, 2025, from 9am to 5pm, on avenue Gallieni between the station and rue Pasteur. It was reserved for residents of the Pays de Fontainebleau community, and all spots were reserved, a sign of the event's popularity. Free parking at the SNCF station, catering and public toilets completed the setup. For 2026, the Cendre en fête changes date and exceptionally takes place on Sunday June 28, in late spring.
Beyond the flea market itself, the Cendre en fête offers various activities organized by Bois-le-Roi Animations: funfair rides, shows, music, varied stalls. It's an opportunity for families to spend a beautiful day without having to choose between hunting, play and conviviality. Children are particularly pampered with activities specifically designed for them.
Bois-le-Roi offers many ways to extend the day. The banks of the Seine, with their paths and sports beaches, are perfect for a walk. The Fontainebleau forest, accessible on foot or by bike, offers hundreds of kilometers of trails. The Château de Fontainebleau, ten minutes by car, is one of France's most beautiful royal palaces.
Parking is free at the Bois-le-Roi SNCF station, a short walk from the Cendre district. The station itself is served by the Transilien R line from Paris Gare de Lyon, making Bois-le-Roi an easy destination without a car.
ℹ️ 2026 edition not confirmed. At the time of our editorial verification (May 2026), we found no public source (organizer, Bois-le-Roi town hall, flea market aggregator, local press) announcing a 2026 edition of this flea market in Bois-le-Roi (77590). The date of June 28, 2026, and the title « Cendre en fête » actually seem to correspond to an event located in another commune. The only car boot sale recently documented in Bois-le-Roi (Seine-et-Marne) took place in September 2025, on Avenue Gallieni. If you are the organizer and this flea market is indeed taking place, please do not hesitate to inform us via the event modification form.
