Bargain hunting on Place Nationale for Bastille Day in the fig capital
Caromb is known throughout Vaucluse for its black fig, celebrated every August at the Fig Festival. Before that, the village already animates its summer with a flea market on Place Nationale on Bastille Day, organised by the town alongside commemorations, fireworks and a popular ball.
The central square is lined with stone houses, an old fountain and plane trees offering welcome shade. Private sellers and small professionals present bric-a-brac, small furniture, old linens, tableware, books, toys and Provençal items.
The flea market blends with Bastille Day charm: bells, pétanque, lively terraces, morning ceremony at the town hall, fireworks in the evening.
Nearby: perched villages of Crillon-le-Brave and Modène, Paty Lake, Ventoux AOC and Beaumes-de-Venise AOC vineyards, Le Barroux castle, Bédoin and Mont Ventoux.
Caromb July 14th Flea Market, throughout the village (village center, Place Nationale / Cours de la République). Hours: from 6 AM to 6 PM. Musical entertainment from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. Free admission for visitors.
Information and exhibitor registration: Caromb Town Hall, tel. 04 90 62 40 28.
