14th July car boot sale on the Place du Château de Jumilhac-le-Grand with 160 exhibitors
Every July 14th, the Place du Château de Jumilhac-le-Grand hosts a car boot sale that is among the most picturesque in the Périgord Vert. With around 160 exhibitors, this event organized by the Union Sportive Jumilhacoise attracts bargain hunters from all over northern Dordogne to an exceptional setting.
Nicknamed the 'Château de l'Or' (Castle of Gold) due to the proximity of old gold mines, the Château de Jumilhac is one of the most spectacular in Dordogne. Its lauze roofs bristling with turrets, ornate dormer windows, and bird-shaped weather vanes create a unique silhouette. The car boot sale takes place on the esplanade leading to the castle, offering visitors a breathtaking view of this historic monument.
Stalls are set up on the Place du Château and the alleys of the Town Hall. Individuals and professionals offer furniture, tableware, trinkets, toys, books, tools, and collectibles. The fee of €2.50 per linear meter makes the event accessible, and exhibitors receive free coffee from the organization, parking, and access from 6 am.
The July 14th car boot sale is part of the national holiday festivities in Jumilhac-le-Grand. The refreshment stand and food stall of the Union Sportive Jumilhacoise allow visitors to eat on site. The festive and patriotic atmosphere, combined with the remarkable castle setting, makes this day a special occasion in the Périgord Vert.
