Car boot sale of Pentecost — Place du 11 Novembre, Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin, May
The Pentecost weekend is a key moment in the French flea market calendar, and Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin is no exception to this well-established tradition. The Car boot sale of Pentecost — also known as the Fête de la Salade — is now in its 25th edition, which testifies to its deep roots in local life and its loyal clientele.
Formerly called Fête de la Salade in reference to the region's market gardening tradition, this Pentecost car boot sale has evolved while retaining its spirit of a popular and friendly festival. For 25 editions, it has brought together exhibitors and visitors on the Place du 11 Novembre and the Rue de la Salle des Fêtes, creating a lively market in the heart of the commune.
The Place du 11 Novembre and its surroundings provide an ideal setting for this spring car boot sale. This central square in Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin is transformed for the occasion into a true second-hand market where clothes, crockery, toys, books, and various objects find new owners. The Malettes district also hosts part of the exhibitors.
A commune on the banks of the Loire, Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Mesmin is an attractive residential commune on the outskirts of Orléans. With a dynamic associative life, it hosts events throughout the year that bring together its approximately 6,500 inhabitants. This Pentecost car boot sale is one of the highlights of the local festive calendar, appreciated by both Pryvatains and visitors from outside who come to hunt for treasures along the Loire.
