The 2025 edition of the Pennes-Mirabeau Car Boot Sale was held on May 1st, Labor Day, in the streets of this perched village in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Between Marseille and Vitrolles, bargain hunters and families gathered for a day of outdoor treasure hunting, at the foot of the Saint-Blaise church and the Pallières windmill. Stalls run by individuals offered crockery, clothing, books, toys, and decorative items at negotiable prices, in the picturesque setting of this Provençal commune of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis.
On May 1st, 2025, the Pennes-Mirabeau Car Boot Sale once again brought together residents and visitors in the streets of this perched village, listed among the remarkable sites of the Bouches-du-Rhône. On this sunny public holiday, bargain hunters took over the aisles lined with stalls run by individuals, wandering between the Saint-Blaise church and the Pallières windmill, in search of good deals.
The variety of items on offer delighted enthusiasts: Provençal crockery and ceramics, books and comics, clothing and accessories for the whole family, toys, trinkets, and small decorative furniture. Prices, set by private sellers, remained affordable, and the usual bargaining contributed to the warm atmosphere of the day.
Located about fifteen kilometers northwest of Marseille and at the gates of Vitrolles, the commune of Les Pennes-Mirabeau offers an exceptional setting for this type of event. The panorama from the old village over the Étang de Berre and the Chaîne de la Nerthe, the richness of the historical heritage—from the Oppidum de Teste-Nègre to the Château des Vento, including the Notre-Dame d'Aide chapel—add a cultural dimension to this day of treasure hunting. The car boot sale will be held again in 2026 on May 1st.
