Grand car boot sale in the village of Chaussin in the Jura plain
Each year, the village of Chaussin, located at the crossroads of the Jura plain between Dole and Lons-le-Saunier, hosts its car boot sale with around 100 exhibitors. The event is held twice a year, in spring (June) and autumn (October), offering bargain hunters two opportunities to rummage through a varied selection.
Exhibitors, mainly individuals, offer the contents of their attics on the village square and adjacent streets: crockery, toys, clothes, books, trinkets, small furniture, and everyday objects. Pitches are available for 2 euros per linear meter, allowing a large number of sellers to participate.
Chaussin is a village of about 1700 inhabitants, a former sub-prefecture of the Jura, which retains a role as a service center for the surrounding rural communities. With its market, shops, and facilities, the commune offers a dynamic setting for this type of event. The car boot sale benefits from this centrality and attracts visitors from all corners of the canton.
The atmosphere is family-friendly and convivial, with refreshments and food available on site. Families come to hunt for bargains in the morning and take advantage of the day to stroll through the village and discover local shops. The Chaussin car boot sale is a well-established event in the canton's calendar.
