Every year in May, the Moto Club de Septmoncel (also known as Moto Club Septmacel) organizes a car boot sale in the place called "la fin du Pré" in Septmoncel-Les Molunes, a commune in the Haut-Jura located at over 1000 meters altitude. This event brings together bargain hunters and sellers from the region in an exceptional mountain setting.

A mountain car boot sale

The Moto Club's car boot sale is distinguished by its atypical setting, in the heart of the Jura mountains. Exhibitors set up their stalls outdoors from 7 in the morning. Pitches are offered at 1 euro per linear meter, a very accessible price that encourages participation. You can find the classic bric-a-brac: crockery, clothes, toys, tools, books, and various trinkets.

Septmoncel-Les Molunes, village in the Haut-Jura

Septmoncel-Les Molunes is a commune formed by the merger of Septmoncel and Les Molunes, located in the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Jura. Known for its lapidary tradition (cutting precious stones) and its industrial heritage, the commune offers a spectacular panorama of the surrounding mountains. The car boot sale is one of the village's festive events, alongside sports and cultural activities.

An exceptional high-altitude setting

What makes this car boot sale unique is its high-altitude location, over 1000 meters, in a Jura mountain landscape. In May, the alpine meadows are in bloom and the air is still cool in the morning, giving a special atmosphere to this day of bargain hunting. Visitors can take the opportunity to discover the hiking trails around Septmoncel, or go down to the valley of Saint-Claude, famous for its pipes and diamonds. The Moto Club actively contributes to the animation of the village and the car boot sale is one of its flagship events, eagerly awaited each spring by the inhabitants of the new commune of Septmoncel-Les Molunes.
