Annual car boot sale in the village of Montégut-Lauragais, land of scents of the Lauragais
Every year in June, the village of Montégut-Lauragais organizes a car boot sale in its streets. From 7 am to 6 pm, private sellers set up their stalls to offer visitors a variety of second-hand items: clothes, toys, crockery, trinkets, books, and various objects. The atmosphere is that of an authentic Lauragais country car boot sale.
Montégut-Lauragais is a village of 423 inhabitants (the Montégutois) located in the heart of the Lauragais, 18 km northwest of Castelnaudary. The commune covers 7.7 km² in a hilly landscape of cereal hills. The village is particularly known for housing Explorarôme Asquali, a scent manufacturer that offers an aromatic garden, exhibitions, and tours of its perfume extraction laboratory, attracting visitors curious to discover the secrets of olfaction.
Montégut-Lauragais is part of the community of communes Lauragais Revel Sorézois. Surrounded by the communes of Nogaret, Saint-Julia, and Roumens, the village is part of this historic terroir nicknamed the "granary of Toulouse" for the richness of its cereal crops. The Saint-Martin church, dating from 1869, overlooks the village and testifies to the rural heritage of the commune.
The Montégut-Lauragais car boot sale is an opportunity to discover this peaceful village while searching the stalls for bargains. Admission is free and parking is easy. Visitors can extend their visit by discovering Explorarôme and its scent garden.
From Toulouse, take the N126 towards Castres then follow signs for Revel/Montégut-Lauragais (approx. 50 km, 50 minutes).
Free parking in the village.
