Car boot sale of Martigues

On Thursday, May 1st, 2025, the Martigues Car Boot Sale took over the streets of the city center of this Provençal town nestled between the Mediterranean and the Étang de Berre. Residents and visitors gathered for a popular day of bargain hunting in a remarkable heritage setting, between the picturesque canals and colorful facades that earned Martigues its nickname of Provençal Venice.

Private sellers offered bargain hunters a wide variety of second-hand items: Provençal tableware and earthenware, clothing and accessories for the whole family, toys and board games, books and vinyl records, small furniture, tools, and trinkets of all kinds. Entry was free and open to all, in the tradition of May 1st car boot sales.

The day was an opportunity for visitors to discover or rediscover the exceptional heritage of Martigues: the Saint-Sébastien canal and its famous Miroir aux Oiseaux with its multicolored houses, the 17th-century Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church and its 1850 Moitessier organ, the Ziem museum, and the Chapelle de l'Annonciade. The car boot sale will be held again in 2026 for a new edition on May 1st.
