Annual August car boot sale in the heart of Châtillonnais, in the streets of Laignes
Every August, the village of Laignes hosts its annual car boot sale in its streets and central square. Sellers — exclusively private individuals — unpack a wide selection of second-hand items: trinkets, antique crockery, books, toys, vintage clothing, tools, small furniture, and curiosities. The atmosphere is village-like and relaxed, conducive to good deals and unexpected discoveries.
Laignes, a commune of about 800 inhabitants, is a rural town in the north of Côte-d'Or, located in the Pays Châtillonnais, about fifteen kilometers from Châtillon-sur-Seine. The village is crossed by the Laignes river, a tributary of the Seine, whose sources are not far away, on the Langres plateau. Laignes has a discreet but charming heritage: a washhouse, a church, old houses, and the rolling countryside of the Burgundian limestone plateau.
The Laignes car boot sale attracts residents of Châtillonnais and holidaymakers passing through this preserved rural region of northern Burgundy. The refreshments and on-site catering, run by local volunteers, allow for a pleasant extension of the day. It's an opportunity to discover this peaceful village and its surroundings, between the nearby Champagne vineyards and the sources of the Seine.
