Every summer, around the second Sunday in August, the village of La Selle-sur-le-Bied in the Loiret region hosts its big annual car boot sale. Organized by the village Festival Committee, this event brings together around 200 exhibitors for a day of treasure hunting by the Bied, the stream that gave the village its name.

La Selle-sur-le-Bied is a village of a few hundred inhabitants located in the Loiret, between Montargis and Châteaurenard. The Bied, a tributary of the Lunain, winds through the meadows and gardens of the village, giving it a particular bucolic charm. The limestone and flint houses bear witness to the vernacular architecture of the Gâtinais. This natural and rural setting is an ideal backdrop for a summer car boot sale.

200 exhibitors for a day of treasure hunting

The car boot sale brings together around 200 exhibitors each year—sometimes more—in the village streets. Individuals wishing to clear out attics, cellars, and outbuildings offer their items to bargain hunters from all over the region. You can find a wide variety: furniture, tableware and table arts, books and magazines, vinyl records, toys and games, clothing and accessories, tools and garden equipment, trinkets and curiosities.

The day takes place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, characteristic of village car boot sales in the summer. The Festival Committee ensures the operation of a refreshment stand and offers catering on site for exhibitors and visitors. These services contribute to making the day a true village festival.
