The Huos Car Boot Sale

Every summer in July, the village of Huos hosts a car boot sale in its streets. From 8 am to 5 pm, private sellers offer a wide range of second-hand items: clothing, toys, crockery, trinkets, books, and various objects. The event brings together the villagers and bargain hunters from neighboring towns in a summery and friendly atmosphere.

Huos, a Balcony Pyrenean Village

Huos is a village of 491 inhabitants (the Huossais) located at an altitude of 425 meters, 11 km southwest of Saint-Gaudens. The commune is part of the Pyrénées Haut Garonnaises community of municipalities and is surrounded by Ausson, Pointis-de-Rivière, and Gourdan-Polignan. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Garonne valley, the village offers beautiful panoramas of the Pyrenean range, from the Pic du Midi to the Comminges mountains.

An Elevated Setting

Huos's balcony position, crossed by the Pécoup stream, gives the car boot sale a unique setting. Sellers benefit from the relative coolness of the altitude, and visitors enjoy the unobstructed views of the Pyrenees. The village is accessible via winding foothill roads, offering a welcome change of scenery for bargain hunters coming from the plains.

Entry is free. The car boot sale runs from 8 am to 5 pm. Parking is easy in the village. Huos is accessible from Saint-Gaudens via departmental roads towards Gourdan-Polignan.
