The 2025 edition of the Vide-Grenier de Gignac-la-Nerthe was held on May 1st in the parking lot of Espace Marcel Pagnol. Organized by the COS of the town's agents, this popular event brought together private sellers and bargain hunters from the Marseille region in this Provençal town nestled at the foot of the Massif de la Nerthe. The public holiday allowed families to enjoy a friendly day of treasure hunting among stalls of tableware, books, clothing, toys, and knick-knacks, in the green setting of the Châteauneuf-Gignac plain.
On May 1st, 2025, the parking lot of Espace Marcel Pagnol in Gignac-la-Nerthe hosted a new edition of the annual car boot sale organized by the COS (Comité des Œuvres Sociales) of the town's agents. Taking advantage of the public holiday and a pleasant setting at the foot of the Massif de la Nerthe, exhibitors and visitors gathered for a day of outdoor treasure hunting on avenue Jan Palach.
The stalls offered the usual variety of Provençal car boot sales: tableware and ceramics, books and comics, clothing for the whole family, toys, decorative knick-knacks, gardening tools, and small furniture. Early birds were able to find the best deals right from the opening, while families enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere throughout the day.
A commune of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, Gignac-la-Nerthe is located between Marignane and Châteauneuf-les-Martigues, on an agricultural plain bordered by the limestone hills and the garrigue of the Massif de la Nerthe. This village with Gallo-Roman roots, which has borne its name from the nearby massif since 1919, retains an authentic Provençal character despite its proximity to Marseille. The May 1st car boot sale is part of the tradition of popular events that animate the life of this commune with two village centers, Gignac and Laure.
