Car boot sale and flea market of the Tennis Club Martelais — Port de Gluges, Martel
Each year at the beginning of summer, the Tennis Club Martelais organizes its car boot sale and flea market in one of the most spectacular sites in the Lot: the Port de Gluges, a troglodytic hamlet nestled at the foot of the limestone cliffs overlooking the Dordogne between Martel and Montvalent. Professionals and individuals mingle in an exceptional natural setting to offer their objects, furniture, curiosities, and various finds to visitors.
Gluges is a hamlet in the commune of Martel (46600) which is among the most remarkable sites in the Dordogne valley in the Lot. This fishing village with medieval origins developed between the river and the cliff, creating a unique partially troglodytic architecture. Its houses, semi-carved into the limestone rock, stand alongside constructions made of pale Quercy stone, all crowned by the Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens church, a historical monument classified since 1913, a fine example of Limousin Romanesque architecture. The Dordogne flows below, accessible by the port, while the suspension bridge offers a striking view of the river's meander and the surrounding cliffs. Canoeing and swimming are possible in season, making Gluges a popular tourist destination in the valley.
The Tennis Club Martelais, a player in the sporting and social life of Martel, has chosen the exceptional site of Gluges to organize its annual flea market and car boot sale. The event welcomes professional dealers and individuals who set up their stalls in the leisure area of the Port de Gluges, on the banks of the Dordogne. Antique furniture, tableware, clothing, books, trinkets, and collector's items are displayed in this incomparable natural setting, attracting local bargain hunters and holidaying tourists from the region.
True to the organizer's identity, the event offers tennis activities, allowing visitors to discover or practice this sport in a festive atmosphere. Refreshments and food are available on-site throughout the day, making a visit to the stalls also an opportunity for a gourmet break with a view of the river. Admission is free for all visitors.
Gluges is accessible from Martel (7 km) via the D23 along the Dordogne, and from Souillac (12 km) via the D703 then the D23. The Port de Gluges site has parking space. The event is generally held in early June, on a Sunday, all day.
