Annual car boot sale and flea market on August 15th in Séniergues, a medieval village in the Causse de Gramat
Every August 15th, Séniergues (46240) hosts its car boot sale and flea market in Place Noël Poujade. This medieval village in the Causse de Gramat, a former 13th-century bastide, offers a festive day of treasure hunting in the open air, with a popular dance in the evening. A friendly event in a charming village within the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy.
Séniergues is a village in the Lot (46240) with many historical facets. Mentioned since the 12th century, the village became a bastide around 1291, under the authority of King Edward I of England, before officially separating from Montfaucon (a neighboring commune) only in the 1930s. Located on the Causse de Gramat, in the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy, it offers an exceptional natural and historical setting for festive events.
Every year, on the occasion of the Assumption public holiday on August 15th, Séniergues livens up its Place Noël Poujade with a car boot sale and a flea market. Exhibitors - individuals and amateur dealers - set up from 8 a.m. to offer their finds: clothes, books, crockery, antique objects, tools, and trinkets. The day ends beautifully with a popular dance at 9:30 p.m., with David Firmin in 2024, animating the evening and concluding the celebration.
The Saint-Martin church of Séniergues, classified as a Historic Monument, dates from the 12th century and underwent modifications in the 14th and 15th centuries. The village is part of the Parc naturel régional des Causses du Quercy, a remarkable territory for its dry grassland landscapes, its dolmens, and its lavognes (watering ponds). Nearby, the Céou river offers opportunities for swimming and hiking.
The day of August 15th in Séniergues unfolds in several stages: car boot sale and flea market during the day (from 8 a.m.), then entertainment and festivities, and finally a popular dance in the evening. This combination of treasure hunting and popular celebration attracts many visitors from surrounding villages and towns, making this event a must-attend for August 15th in Quercy.
Séniergues is accessible from Gourdon (about 25 km west) and from Cahors (about 40 km northwest). Parking available in the village. Refreshments and light meals offered on site.
