The Fêt'en Jalles Car Boot Sale: The Patron Saint Festival of Saint-Médard

Each spring, the Fêt'en Jalles association organizes a large car boot sale on the Place de la République in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles (33160), as part of the traditional Saint-Médard festivities. The square and its surroundings are entirely taken over by private exhibitors, creating a huge open-air flea market in the heart of this large town in western Bordeaux.

The Place de la République is the iconic venue for the Jalles festivities. For the car boot sale, the eastern part of the square is closed to traffic from Saturday afternoon to allow for stall setup. Exhibitors offer clothing, toys, books, crockery, trinkets, small furniture, tools, bicycles, and decorative items. The atmosphere is festive and family-friendly, with refreshments and food provided by the association's volunteers.
