Car boot sale at Pré de la Tour during the Fête du Four à Pain, organized by the Comptoir de la Régordane, Prévenchères (48800)
Every summer, the Comptoir de la Régordane organizes the Fête du Four à Pain in Prévenchères (48800), in the Cévennes lozériennes. On the program: wood-fired bread baking all day by the Fournil des Lauzes de Pourcharesses, a market of local artisans and producers, and of course an open-air car boot sale at Pré de la Tour, with free pitches for exhibitors.
This event with an authentic atmosphere celebrates traditional Cévenol know-how. The communal wood-fired oven, a strong symbol of rural life of yesteryear, becomes the center of a popular gathering again. The car boot sale lasts all day, attracting individuals and collectors in this preserved natural setting.
Prévenchères is a commune in southern Lozère, on the border of the Gard department. The village is crossed by the historic route of the Régordane (old Saint-Gilles path), which connected the Massif Central to the Mediterranean. The Comptoir de la Régordane, a local association, works to preserve and promote this unique historical and natural heritage.
Near Prévenchères stands the fortified medieval village of la Garde-Guérin, one of the most beautiful villages in France, with its castle and lauzes-paved streets. This listed site, perched on a rock overlooking the Chassezac gorges, offers a striking setting to this entire region, which the Fête du Four à Pain helps to promote.
