August 15th, the Assumption Day and a public holiday, is traditionally a popular day for flea markets and car boot sales in France. In Arinthod, it is FC Petite Montagne that organizes this summer event, which has become a highly anticipated gathering for the residents of the Petite Montagne region of the Jura and beyond.
The Arinthod car boot sale hosts between 50 and 100 private sellers depending on the edition. The stalls offer a wide range of second-hand items: crockery, trinkets, toys, clothing, books, tools, and garden furniture. The aisles are open to visitors from 7 in the morning until 6 in the evening, giving bargain hunters time to search each stand for a good deal.
Beyond the bargain hunting, FC Petite Montagne offers entertainment to liven up the day. Freestyle football demonstrations are particularly on the program, providing dynamic entertainment between the car boot sale aisles. The event is thus designed for the whole family, with activities for young and old.
Arinthod is the main village of the Petite Montagne, a hilly and green area in the south of the Jura department, located between Lons-le-Saunier and Oyonnax. This landscape of wooded hills, meadows, and perched villages offers an ideal rural setting for a summer car boot sale. The village has all the necessary shops and services for a pleasant visit.
August 15th is one of the most popular days for car boot sales in France. In Arinthod, this tradition is firmly established thanks to the commitment of FC Petite Montagne, which ensures the logistical organization of the event. The profits from the refreshment stand and on-site catering contribute to the financing of the local football club's sports activities. It is therefore an event where the pleasure of bargain hunting combines with support for the associative and sporting life of the region.
The August 15th car boot sale returns to Arinthod in 2026, organized by FC Petite Montagne. 50 to 100 sellers expected with entertainment.
