Every May 1st, the village of Douelle (46140) lives to the rhythm of its big car boot sale organized by the APE (Parents' Association), for the benefit of the school. The event, held along the Lot river and on the school square, is one of the largest in the canton: between 100 and 200 private sellers gather each year for this festive outdoor day.

The Association des Parents d'Élèves de Douelle organizes this annual car boot sale to fund projects and activities for the benefit of the school children. The event, rooted in the local calendar, benefits from good organization and a warm atmosphere. The profits allow the APE to enrich the school life of this wine-growing village in the Lot.

An exceptional setting between the Lot and the school

The Douelle car boot sale enjoys a particularly pleasant setting: sellers set up both on the bank of the Lot — the river that flows from east to west through the department — and on the school square. This double space, between the riverside and the heart of the village, creates a unique atmosphere for this May 1st treasure hunt day. The spring sunshine and the proximity of the water make it a moment highly appreciated by visitors.

Between 100 and 200 private sellers

The capacity of the Douelle car boot sale is a maximum of 120 sellers, with pitches of 3 x 4 meters for €10. Sellers set up from 6 am, and the event runs from 9 am to 6 pm. A refreshment stand is available on site with sandwiches and crepes for sale, and a glass of wine is offered to each seller as a welcome. Parking is available near the cemetery.

Douelle, a wine-growing village on the Lot

Douelle is an emblematic village of viticulture in the Lot, nestled in the Lot valley about fifteen kilometers west of Cahors. The surrounding hillsides are covered with vines producing the Malbec (Côt) grape variety, the basis of the Cahors appellation, one of the most renowned red wines of the Southwest. The village, with its Romanesque church and its blue limestone houses, offers a beautiful face of rural Quercy. The May 1st car boot sale is an opportunity to discover this wine-growing region in a popular festive atmosphere.
