An Annual Event by Amicale Laïque

The Amicale Laïque de Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau is a popular education association founded in 1924, whose historical objective is to support the commune's public schools and to offer cultural, sports, and social activities throughout the year. Its annual car boot sale at the Salle de la Clotais is one of its associative highlights, bringing together private bargain hunters, local creators, and passionate gardeners at each edition. The 2024 (June 30, 2024) and 2025 (June 22, 2025) editions took place in this format at the Salle de la Clotais; an older edition had been organized in September 2021.

The Creators' Village and Plant Swap

The originality of this event lies in the combination, on the same day and at the same site, of a private car boot sale, a creators' village, and a plant swap. The creators' village brings together textile artisans, jewelers, potters, illustrators, and other artists from the Nantes region who come to present and sell their creations. The plant swap allows amateur gardeners from the commune and surrounding areas to exchange plants, cuttings, bulbs, and seeds, in a spirit of sharing and reciprocity. A bar and on-site catering (sandwiches, grilled food, fries) complete the day.

Saint-Jean-de-Boiseau is a commune in the Loire estuary (Loire-Atlantique, dpt 44), located in Pays de Retz, opposite Couëron on the river's south bank, about twenty kilometers west of Nantes. Its natural setting, between the Loire and bocage, gives it a strong identity. The Salle de la Clotais, which hosts the event, is located at 22a rue Charles de Gaulle, in the heart of the village, and is easily accessible for bargain hunters from neighboring communes (Couëron, Le Pellerin, Brains, Bouguenais).
