Popular car boot sale in the Aiguillon district of Arcachon
The Aiguillon district is the historic cradle of Arcachon, the former fishing village that gave birth to the seaside resort. Its narrow streets, colorful houses, and covered market make it one of the liveliest and most authentic districts in the city. Twice a year, in spring and summer, the Comité des Fêtes de l'Aiguillon organizes a car boot sale that brings together residents and visitors in a festive and popular atmosphere.
The streets of Aiguillon transform for a day into a vast open-air flea market. Individuals exhibit in front of their homes or on the sidewalks: clothes, toys, dishes, books, trinkets, small furniture, and everyday objects find buyers among the early morning treasure hunters. As the district is pedestrianized for the occasion, strolling is pleasant and safe, ideal for families. You'll meet both retirees from the neighborhood and vacationers looking for unusual souvenirs.
The Aiguillon district preserves the spirit of the popular and gourmet Bassin d'Arcachon. A stone's throw from the car boot sale, the covered market offers oysters, fresh fish, and local specialties. The terraces of cafes and restaurants on the seafront are a few minutes' walk away. The car boot sale of the Comité des Fêtes is also an opportunity to discover this charming district, with its Saint-Ferdinand church, its 19th-century facades, and its breathtaking view of the fishing port. An unmissable event for bargain hunters on the Bassin.
