Annual flea market and car boot sale in Place du Château d'Eau in Mézos
The Mézos flea market and car boot sale is held every summer in the Place du Château d'Eau, in the heart of the village. Organized by the Foyer Pour Tous de Mézos, this event brings together about sixty exhibitors with indoor spaces at 7 euros per table and outdoor spaces at 3 euros per meter. Musical entertainment, artisanal ice cream, and catering by a local chef complete this day of treasure hunting in the relaxed atmosphere of the Born.
Every summer, the Foyer Pour Tous de Mézos organizes its flea market and car boot sale in the Place du Château d'Eau, at 1 rue des Acacias. This event, which brings together around 60 exhibitors, has become a popular summer gathering for the inhabitants of the Born and passing holidaymakers.
Spaces are offered in two formats: indoor at 7 euros for a 1.80 m table, or outdoor at 3 euros per linear meter. This dual offering allows for both exhibitors who prefer the comfort of a covered space and those who enjoy outdoor treasure hunting in the village square.
Mézos is a small village in the Landes region of the Pays de Born, located on the D38 between Mimizan and Parentis-en-Born. This town in the Landes forest, crossed by the Contis stream, retains the charm of the small rural communes of the department. The church, the washhouse, and the traditional houses bear witness to its preserved heritage.
The event is enhanced by musical entertainment by the group Pépé dans les Orties, which adds a festive touch to the day. Catering is provided by Mooinrise from Mimizan, while artisanal ice cream from La Palue de Castets cools down visitors. A welcome coffee is offered to exhibitors and a bar operates throughout the day.
The Foyer Pour Tous de Mézos is the cultural and social association of the village, which enlivens community life throughout the year. In addition to the flea market and car boot sale, the foyer organizes meals, shows, workshops, and outings for the residents of Mézos and neighboring communes. The flea market is its flagship summer event, bringing together about sixty exhibitors and numerous visitors for a festive day in the village square. The musical entertainment by the group Pépé dans les Orties adds a touch of cheerfulness, while the catering by Mooinrise from Mimizan and the artisanal ice cream from La Palue de Castets delight the taste buds.
