Annual flea market and car boot sale at Parc des Fontaines in Chaillevette
Every May 8th, a public holiday, the Parc des Fontaines in Chaillevette hosts its annual flea market and car boot sale. Located on the site of the former campsite, Rue des Fontaines, this event brings together private and professional exhibitors in a green setting shaded by maritime pines. Entry is free and the exhibitor fee of €3 per linear meter remains very affordable.
Chaillevette is a small village on the Arvert Peninsula, nestled between the oyster channels of the Marennes-Oléron basin and the Coubre forest. The town lives to the rhythm of the tides and oyster farming, with its colorful huts along the channels and its oyster ponds. This authentic setting gives the flea market a unique atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the nearby seaside resorts.
The Parc des Fontaines, a former municipal campsite converted into a leisure area, offers an ideal setting for this outdoor flea market. Stalls are set up under the pines and along the green paths, creating a pleasant treasure-hunting route even on hot days. The site has free parking nearby and restrooms. Light refreshments are available on site to keep you going between finds.
The May 8th flea market in Chaillevette is one of those village events that treasure hunters on the Arvert Peninsula don't miss. The atmosphere is family-friendly and convivial, conducive to exchanges and negotiations. Garden furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, toys, and decorative objects make up the bulk of the offerings, with occasional great finds for lovers of antique items.
