Brocante and vintage vehicles in the Beauce plain, near Milly-la-Forêt
Saint-Vrain (91770) is an Essonne village in the Beauce and Gâtinais plain, a few kilometres from Milly-la-Forêt. Its ~4,500 residents live in a preserved rural environment — and Saint-Vrain is renowned well beyond Essonne for its private wildlife reserve, home to white lions, giraffes, zebras and many exotic animals: a unique Île-de-France tourist site.
In this bucolic setting, the local association (saint-vrain91.fr) organises annually on the last Sunday of May the Brocante Verte de l'Orme de la Prévôté — named for the village's emblematic landmark, the Orme de la Prévôté, referencing the sheltering elm and rural tradition.
This dual programming creates a unique synergy: brocante lovers also admire the beautiful machines; vintage vehicle fans leave with brocante finds. The day gains a thematic and popular dimension simple car boot sales rarely achieve.
Visitors can combine the Brocante Verte with a visit to the wildlife reserve — white lions, dromedaries, giraffes, zebras, ostriches. Milly-la-Forêt (10 min) adds its medieval covered market, Jean Cocteau house and Gâtinais garden.
From Milly-la-Forêt (10 min), Étampes (20 min), Évry (25 min), Paris (50 min). By car via D837 and D33. Village parking.
