Monthly flea market under the arcades of the Place Ducale in Charleville-Mézières
Every third Sunday of the month, the majestic Place Ducale in Charleville-Mézières hosts the Arcades flea market. Around thirty exhibitors set up in this 17th-century architectural masterpiece to offer antiques, flea market items, and curiosities. An unmissable event for Ardennes treasure hunters under the pink sandstone vaults.
Every third Sunday of the month, the Place Ducale in Charleville-Mézières transforms into a flea market and antique fair of rare beauty. Organized by Brocante des Arcades, this monthly event brings together about thirty exhibitors in the heart of one of Northern France's most beautiful architectural ensembles.
Designed by Clément Métezeau in 1611 at the request of Charles de Gonzague, Duke of Nevers and Rethel, the Place Ducale is often compared to the Place des Vosges in Paris. Its harmonious brick and cut stone facades, vaulted arcades, and central pavilion make it a sumptuous setting for strolling and treasure hunting. Exhibitors set up under the covered galleries and in the central square, offering visitors a unique flea market experience in Champagne-Ardenne.
With around thirty exhibitors, the Brocante de la Place Ducale cultivates a friendly and intimate atmosphere, quite different from large commercial fairs. You'll find individuals clearing out their attics, professional treasure hunters, and local antique dealers offering a varied range of goods: furniture, tableware, glassware, books, old postcards, trinkets, vintage clothing, and decorative items.
The capital of the Ardennes, Charleville-Mézières is renowned for its World Puppetry Festival and for the memory of the poet Arthur Rimbaud, born here in 1854. The city offers flea market visitors the opportunity to extend their day by visiting the Rimbaud Museum, housed in the former 17th-century water mill, or the Museum of the Ardennes. The covered market of Les Minimes, a short walk from the Place Ducale, also offers a fine selection of local products.
The Place Ducale is easily accessible from the town center of Charleville-Mézières, a few minutes' walk from the SNCF train station. Parking is available nearby. The flea market takes place in all weather thanks to the arcades that protect exhibitors and visitors from the elements. Entry is free.
If you have any doubts about the event taking place (public holidays, special events), it is advisable to contact the organizer or check local social media.
The Brocante de la Place Ducale resumes its monthly events in 2026, held on the third Sunday of each month, under the arcades of the Place Ducale in Charleville-Mézières.
