Pentecost Flea Market in the former mining village of Montcombroux
Montcombroux-les-Mines is a small commune located in the north of Allier, between Lapalisse and Le Donjon. Its name evokes its mining past: the subsoil of the commune was exploited for coal and other minerals, an activity that has marked the history and landscape of the village.
The remains of the mining operations — slag heaps, old shafts, workers' housing estates — are still visible in the landscape and give Montcombroux a unique identity in Allier. The Mining Museum, when open, allows visitors to discover this little-known industrial history of Bourbonnais. The flea market is an opportunity to discover this original heritage.
Pentecost Monday is traditionally a day for flea markets and car boot sales in Allier. The Montcombroux-les-Mines flea market is part of this festive late spring tradition, bringing together exhibitors and bargain hunters in the village streets for a day of outdoor treasure hunting.
