Monthly professional flea market under the Halle Georges Brassens in Brive
The monthly flea market of Brive-la-Gaillarde is held every first Sunday of the month under the majestic Halle Georges Brassens, on the Quai Tourny. This regular event attracts professional exhibitors and discerning bargain hunters in an ideal covered setting, in the heart of the "cité gaillarde". From 8 am to 5 pm, visitors browse the aisles filled with antique furniture, rare objects, old books, comics, and curiosities of all kinds. Organized by Alain Mazet, this flea market has become an unmissable event in the Brive Basin and the Corrèze, offering free entry and free parking on the Place du 14-Juillet.
Every first Sunday of the month, the Halle Georges Brassens in Brive-la-Gaillarde hosts its monthly flea market, a flagship event of Brive's commercial life. Located on the Quai Tourny, a stone's throw from the historic center, this covered hall offers a setting protected from bad weather, ideal for bargain hunting in all seasons. Professionals and amateurs meet there from 8 am to 5 pm to offer and find furniture, decorative objects, old books, comics, and rarities.
The Halle Georges Brassens, named after the famous singer-songwriter, is one of the emblematic covered spaces in Brive-la-Gaillarde. Its metal structure offers a vast, bright volume conducive to showcasing the exhibited objects. The adjacent Place du 14-Juillet completes the space with free parking, facilitating access for visitors from all over the Brive Basin, the Dordogne Valley, and the Limousin region.
Exhibitors, mostly professionals in flea markets and antiques, offer a wide range of merchandise: regional walnut or oak furniture, old tableware, silverware, trade tools, rare books, collectible comics, trinkets, lighting, and curiosities. The monthly regularity of this event allows for constant renewal of stalls and finds, encouraging bargain hunters to return month after month.
Sub-prefecture of Corrèze and the most populous town in the department, Brive-la-Gaillarde charms with its medieval heritage, its Saint-Martin collegiate church, and its renowned covered market. The monthly flea market is part of an ancient commercial tradition, inherited from the great fairs that have animated the city since the Middle Ages. Visitors can extend their bargain hunting with a stroll through the narrow streets of old Brive or a gourmet stop in one of the downtown restaurants.
The monthly flea market is open from 8 am to 5 pm every first Sunday of the month. Entry is free for visitors. Parking on the Place du 14-Juillet is free. For any information or stall reservation, contact Alain Mazet at 06 18 67 72 93.
