Flea Market and Jams on the Île de la Claise

Every June, the Île de la Claise in Abilly transforms into a unique festival location in Touraine. The CAFA (Comité d'Animation des Fêtes d'Abilly) organizes the Jam Festival, which combines a significant flea market and car boot sale with an artisanal jam contest and the sale of homemade jams. The island, accessible via avenue des Termelles, offers a shaded and enchanting natural setting for this festive day, between the waters of the Claise and the green foliage.

The Jam Tradition of Mère Jeannette

Abilly continues an ancestral jam-making tradition inherited from "Mère Jeannette", an emblematic figure of the village who prepared her jams using artisanal methods passed down through generations. CAFA members still make their jams according to this traditional recipe, using only natural fruits, without colorings or preservatives. The jam contest is the highlight of the festival: amateurs and enthusiasts compete with creativity and know-how to win the title of best jam maker.

A Peaceful Village at the Confluence of Rivers

Abilly is a small village in southern Indre-et-Loire, located at the confluence of the Claise and the Creuse rivers, a few kilometers from Descartes and Grand-Pressigny.
