On Palm Sunday, one week before Easter, Saint-Léon hosts its traditional flea market in the covered market and the main street of the village. This Easter event, firmly established in the calendar for treasure hunters in eastern Allier, unofficially opens the spring flea market season in the Lapalisse and Varennes-sur-Allier region.

Covered Market and Main Street

The covered market of Saint-Léon, a typical structure in Bourbonnais villages, offers an ideal sheltered space for fragile objects and valuable items. The main street, extending from it, hosts outdoor stalls for several hundred meters. This dual configuration allows visitors to move from indoors to outdoors according to their discoveries, with differentiated rates: 3 euros per meter indoors, 2 euros outdoors.

A Village on the Road to Lapalisse

Saint-Léon is located on the road between Varennes-sur-Allier and Lapalisse, in this eastern part of Allier where the rolling landscapes of the Montagne Bourbonnaise begin to appear. The village retains the charm of a traditional rural village, with its stone houses and tranquil atmosphere. The Brocante des Rameaux livens up these peaceful streets with welcome excitement.

The 6 am opening attests to the appeal of this flea market for seasoned treasure hunters. From the early hours, regulars scour the aisles of the covered market and the main street in search of the best finds. The day continues until 6:30 pm, offering ample time for discovery and browsing.
