Monthly flea market on the Argentomagus parking lot in Saint-Marcel, Gallo-Roman city of Berry
Every 3rd Sunday of the month, from September to June, the parking lot of the Argentomagus museum in Saint-Marcel hosts the Brocante des Mersans. This monthly event brings together professional and amateur dealers offering furniture, trinkets, tableware, books, tools, vinyl records, vintage clothing, and various other items. The setting is exceptional: the Argentomagus museum overlooks the Creuse valley and the remains of one of the most important Gallo-Roman cities in central Gaul.
Saint-Marcel is a village that holds a major archaeological treasure: Argentomagus, a vast Gallo-Roman city founded in the 1st century AD. The Argentomagus museum, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, exhibits the remains of this ancient city: a theater, a monumental fountain, a necropolis, and everyday objects. The excavations have revealed an exceptional collection that testifies to the importance of Berry in Roman Gaul.
The Creuse Valley, on the border of Indre and Vienne, is a region of rolling landscapes and charming villages. Argenton-sur-Creuse, the "Venice of Berry," is just a few minutes away. The Brocante des Mersans is an opportunity to combine a morning of treasure hunting with a visit to the Argentomagus museum or a walk in this preserved valley.
Saint-Marcel is located on the RN20/A20 (exit 17), 2 km from Argenton-sur-Creuse and 30 km south of Châteauroux.
